Paper Sample Show
I made some fliers up for a paper sample show for our graphic design students. I should have done this a week ago, but better late than never. or something.
I keep on thinking that I will get sick of gocco printing.
So far I am wrong.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEO!!!
This dude is five today. And Deb, if you are reading this, I promise that a package is on the way.
The photo was taken right before we left Lincoln at one of Deb's fabulous sunday morning waffle gatherings. I love mornings (and afternoons and evenings) at Deb's!!!

Law and Order
So I was google searching the TV show Law and Order tonight for some super bad ass photos of some of my favorite characters from this awesomely good show and I came across this.
THE LAW AND ORDER COLORING BOOK.
This is Sam Watterson.
The artist who created this is Brandon Bird.
You can see more of his work at his site www.brandonbird.com
I also discovered that he curated an entire show based around Edward Norton and has a series of paintings that involve Mr. T. I could go on, but I want to talk about Law and Order, Law and Order: SVU and Law and Order CI.
I watch it every night.
It is the perfect show.
If anybody wants, I will make them a button set featuring the faces of some of their favorite characters.
Imagine the jealousy on the school yard when you show up with the faces of Jerry Orbach, Chris Noth, Benjamin Bratt, Angie Harmon or Sam Watterson handsomly placed on your shirt collar, bookbag strap or jean jacket.
The coolest kid in school. I swear.

Advertisment for my print production class
Pre-registration is this week at school.
I am supposed to be advising 20 some kids and I don't even know how, but that is another story.
I am teaching a special topics class in Print Production and I made the above postcards today to advertise the class.
The mug used to say I heart Quebec.
Gaylord and Fancy
These are our cats.
Gaylord is the black one. Fancy is the crusty yellow one.
Do you like all of the empty cat food cans in the photo?
Yes, our back stoop looks a little bit like dirty poor people reside in this house, but not so.
Our cats just eat that much.
Gaylord, when he feels he is getting hungry, likes to leap onto our bedroom window screen, attach his claws, and meows like he is going to die. He also does this to our back door screen, our front door screen and when we are sitting in our office he just sits underneath our window and howls.
but, they are really cute.
I promise this will be the first and last time that I "blog" about our cats.

My sad, stuffed, creations...
Hey, look at my really, really bad pieces of stuffed crap that I made on my sewing machine.
Now before anyone thinks that I am supposed to have SKILLZ because I have my MFA, back off.
I am teaching myself to sew.
Now, if I hadn't acted like the disgusting, spoiled, obnoxious teenager when my mom (a skilled seamstress, I might add) had tried to show me how to sew when I was 13, my sorry looking stuffed dollar signs (which is what these pieces of poo are supposed to be) might look like works of art.
oh and I made a pillow too.
It is coming along.
At least my sewing machine is, as in the words of Paris Hilton, "hot".
I mean, it really is. Look at that 1970's styling...the excellent placement of the faux wood. My sewing machine is too good for me.

Button Maker!
Look what I bought with school money!
A one inch button maker. Now I can make buttons at rapid fire speed.
Ever since I introduced the concept of making buttons to my design students they have been freaking out and making buttons out of everything.
I think giving a demo on how to make buttons is as important as giving demos on how to use photoshop...right?
I totally do.

Celebrity Postcards
I knew that my sad, sad addiction to InTouch/US/People Magazine would pay off someday.
Look! ART!
Paris Hilton and Matt Mcconaughey are in these two, but I have more with Justin Timberlake, Cameron Diaz, Ben Affleck and my personal favorite, MARY KATE!!!
Now, I need to send them to people.
Neigborhood Update
You may remember an earlier post that involved our next door neighbor. If not, I will catch you up to speed...Filthy apartment, left it filthy while he went away for months...we share a wall with him...I was concerned about bugs etc etc. ANYWAY.
Clifton finally got to meet him the other day. They had an awkward conversation where they talked about the British automotive industry (he is british and teaches spanish). Cliff would normally be interested in discussing the British automotive industry, but with our neighbor it was just creepy. PLUS creepy neighbor FARTED TWICE during the conversation.
Now for our neighbors on the other side...
They somehow drove their car off of their driveway and got stuck. THEY DROVE THEIR CAR OFF OF THEIR DRIVEWAY AND GOT STUCK! How does one do this? The driveway is not that high. So Friday they rang our doorbell and needed help. I woke Cliff up from a nap and we went outside to be good samaritians. ANYWAY. There were all these women who couldn't speak english, Cliff was trying to push the car, I stepped in a pile of fire ants (which really really really really hurt) and called the campus cops because we couldn't (and didn't really want to) help any more.
This is a photo that I took from our office window. I was spying again. I can't help it. I AM Nancy Drew. A really nosy Nancy Drew. Who doesn't really solve any mysteries.

Money Magazine!!!
I just received a telephone call confiriming that I am going to be in the December issue of Money Magazine!
Jean Chatzky e-mailed me a week or so ago about running a short item on my work. She is an editor for Money Magazine, has written several books on debt and is also the NBC Today Show money correspondant. I was excited when I was talking with her, but nothing was really confirmed about the possibility of an actual article.
Today I received a telephone call from her assistant telling me that the article will run and that they were going to send a photographer to Starkville to set up a photo shoot with me!!! I had no idea that a photo was going to be part of this. SOOO, on Tuesday I will be involved with a photo shoot!
Crazy.
More details to come.
I am still not convinced that this will actually happen.
keep your fingers crossed!
